Job Description:

ACS, located in Lynchburg, VA, has an opening for an AutoCAD Electrical Designer / Drafter. This position is responsible for the design of electrical control panels as well as all components related to the conveyor. In this role, you will assist the Electrical Engineering Department personnel to assure proper execution of the design, compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Requires the ability to create complex parts, assemblies and bills of material. Must be detail oriented and take ownership of projects. Must be able to work independently on projects to troubleshoot technical issues with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Associates Degree or Vocational Training preferred
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the principles of electricity and electronics
  • Required to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • 1 year experience in the CAD field preferred.
  • 1 year experience in a Manufacturing facility preferred.

ACS, located in Lynchburg, VA, has an opening for an Installation / Field Service Technician to travel to our client’s sites to install, repair and troubleshoot conveyor and its related appurtenances.

As an Installation Technician, you will be responsible to follow directions in order to accomplish all tasks in the requisite amount of time.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Installation, start-up, and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical material handling equipment and machines.
  • Ability to run conduit and make wire pulls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and programming problems.
  • Possess a good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with types of equipment produced by ACS (I.E. centering device and chain transfer.)
  • Operate fork truck and overhead crane or hoist.

ACS, located in Lynchburg, VA, has an opening for an Electrical / PLC Programming Field Service Technician. This position is responsible for installation, testing and start-up of all electrical parts and components related to the conveyor and all its appurtenant programs and systems.

As an Electrical / PLC Programming Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for the field work support implementation of PLC-based control systems for conveyor and related equipment: 

  • Complying with employee safety policies, GMP, OSHA Safety and Health rules as well as on location customer safety policies and procedures
  • Installs and maintains all electrical and electronic plant and production equipment. This equipment includes motors, electrical/electronic controls and systems, PLCs, AC/DC drives, computerized controls, and other related equipment
  • Minimizes downtime by fast and accurate troubleshooting of PLC programs and electrical/electronic circuits and equipment
  • Performs preventive/predictive maintenance on plant and production electrical and electronic equipment
  • Performs general mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance and installations as needed
  • Assists in the management of all plant CAD drawings which includes the building layout as well as machinery electrical parts
  • Serve as an electrical/electronic controls consultant with the installation of new equipment and existing equipment
  • Plans assigned work and is responsible for his/her safety and the safety of others in the area
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

As well as a drive to learn and succeed in Manufacturing, to be considered for this position you must be able to meet the following requirements:

Required:                 

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • A two year Associate Degree in electrical/electrical technology and 2 years applicable experience or 4 years electrical experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the principles of electricity and electronics
  • Advance Allen Bradley, PLC and HMI programming skills
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC programs and hardware
  • May be required to work all shifts (on occasion)

  • Must have experience with RS Logix (5, 500, and 5000) software and HMI control
  • Must have a working knowledge of the National Electric Code

Job Description:

ACS, located in Lynchburg, VA, has an opening for an Electrical Controls Design Engineer. This position is responsible for designing, developing and programming all electrical parts and components related to the conveyor and all its appurtenant programs and systems.

As an Electrical Controls Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and support implementation of PLC-based control systems for conveyor and related equipment both in the plant as well as the following: 

  • Design control panels using various software packages such as AutoCAD.
  • Prepares field component layout including conveyor layout and sectionalizes conveyor per control systems requirement.
  • Sketch field components such as motors, solenoids, photo eyes, limit switches on field layout.
  • Selects programmable controller best suited for project according to I/O requirements, memory requirements and customer requirements.
  • Provides technical information and assistance on matters dealing with special parts and components.
  • Designs and specs motor and control circuits in accordance with UL508A specifications.
  • Designs push-button controls/consoles per system requirements.
  • After performing power calculations selects the proper control transformer and circuit breakers.
  • Generates bill of materials required for control panel, consoles and field components.
  • Completes production order notifying manufacturing group as what items need manufactured, wired and pre-wired.
  • Support building and wiring of control panels. 
  • Submits layout sketch, schematics sketch, bill of materials and production work sheet to drafting department.
  • Reviews preliminary drawings and bills of material and makes changes and corrections as required.
  • Re-submit changes and corrections to the drafting department and approves final draft with signature authorization. Releases to manufacturing for entry into production schedule.
  • Writes and troubleshoots programs for PLC – PLC LadderLogic.
  • As required, writes basic programs, C programs or D base programs.
  • Coordinate needs, such as interfaces, with other vendors.
  • Provides telephone support for field installation and troubleshooting.
  • Handles customer service problems as required.
  • Provide on & off-site customer support & training.
  • Work overtime as required.

In order to qualify for this position, you will meet or exceed the following requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering degree with an emphasis on Industrial Control Systems (Associates or Bachelors) 
  • Experience with one or more computer programming languages 
  • PLC programming experience, especially with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation products

ACS, located in Lynchburg, VA, has an opening for a Machinist to fabricate steel and various other metals appurtenant to conveyor assembly and utilization. Machines utilized include, but are not limited to:

Machines may either be manual or CNC.

Machinist essential functions are as follows:

  • Follows written and verbal instruction from leadman and supervisor.

  • Work with basic shop math, fractions, decimals, and formulas.
  • Read tape measure, scale, calipers, micrometer, and work with relatively close tolerances.

  • Knowledge of various types of steel including flat bar, angle, channel and rod.
  • Program and troubleshoot CNC equipment as required.

  • Install program tape/cards in console reader and correlate machine position with control.
  • Recognize and repeat errors in programming and operations.
  • Diagnose operating difficulties and make the appropriate remedial adjustments as required.
