Job Description:

 ACS, located in Lynchburg, VA, has an opening for a Plant Electrical Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance and repair work on all machines and systems within the plant. Requiring a basic knowledge of electro-mechanical principles and equipment design.

Plant Electrical Maintenance Mechanic essential functions are as follows: 

  • Receives written and verbal instruction from supervisor.

  • Work from drawings, sketches, specifications, schematics, and instructions manuals involving complex circuitry and machine design.

  • Observe machine operations to determine the nature of operating problems.

  • Use the appropriate test instruments and equipment to diagnose and locate the problem and reason for the malfunction.

  • Make needed repairs and adjustments as required.

  • Replace, adjust and calibrate components to align control apparatus to the required operating specifications.

  • General electrical repair and maintenance as required.

  • Use special testing instruments I.E. galvanometer and voltmeter etc. as required.

  • Work is conducted under minimum supervision.

  • Operates fork truck as required.

  • Assist maintenance mechanic as required.

  • Notifies supervisor of any unusual conditions of buildings and equipment.

  • Meets acceptable time/work standards.

  • Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly.

  • Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly.

  • Works in accordance with established safety policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 In order to qualify for this position, you will have:

  • High school degree or equivalent

  • Position typically expects three (3) to five (5) years of direct/relevant experience based on scope of the position

  • Willing and able to work overtime as required

  • Possess problem solving capabilities

  • Must be detail-oriented and able to multitask

  • Maintain composure in a fast-paced, stressful environment

  • Mission focused with a sense of urgency when required

  • Must have a positive attitude and foster a continuous improvement environment
