Job Description:

ACS, located in Lynchburg, VA, has an opening for a Panel Assembly Technician to layout and assemble complicated and involved electronic/electrical components for panel assemblies having frequent variations in detail, number of parts, and wiring patterns.

Panel Assembly Technician’s essential functions are as follows:

  • Receives written and verbal instruction from supervisor.

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and involved wiring diagrams for a wide variety of control panels including standard and special designs.

  • Reads and interprets bills of materials and checks components for any unusual deviation from required specifications.

  • Performs layout of various electrical control component parts including but not limited to motor starters, starter protectors, ivec relays, bar scanners, photocells, industrial computers, power supplies, and fuse holders.

  • Wires and connects components utilizing standard terminal blocks.

  • Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools including drills (3/8” & ½”), air and electric grinders, hydraulic punches, drill press, hole and jig saw, and taps.

  • Fabricates console layover sheets utilizing an engraving machine.

  • Assign work to and instruct assembles in lower classifications.

  • Notifies supervisor of any unusual conditions of material, drawings, parts, shop equipment, and parts and material shortages.

  • Meets acceptable time/work standards.

  • Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly.

  • Works in accordance with established safety policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify for this position, you will have:

  • High school degree or equivalent

  • The position typically expects three (3) to five (5) years of direct/relevant experience based on the scope of the position

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics

  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch

  • Willing and able to work overtime as required

  • Possess problem-solving capabilities

  • Must be detail-oriented and able to multitask

  • Maintain composure in a fast-paced, stressful environment

  • Mission-focused with a sense of urgency when required

  • Must have a positive attitude and foster a continuous improvement environment

  • Ability to work well with others
