Job Description:
Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer obtains purchased components from suppliers at the lowest cost while considering quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need.
Accountabilities
Supports Operations by ensuring material availability to meet the production schedule.
Develops contingency plans to prevent disruptions in operations.
Position Requirements
Proficient with a computer
Must be a good communicator (verbal and written) and able to integrate with and work within a team environment.
High degree of initiative and ownership, attention to detail, and the discipline to follow through on assigned tasks.
Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving skills.
Must be adaptable and capable of managing several priorities effectively.
Preferred but not required
Experience with ERP/MRP
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Back up Buyer and Purchasing Manager on daily buying responsibilities.
Order shop supplies daily as needed
Order Steel as needed
Check past due PO’s
Jump in and help with daily buying responsibilities as needed.
