Job Description:

ACS, located in Lynchburg, VA, has an opening for an Installation / Field Service Technician to travel to our client’s sites to install, repair and troubleshoot the conveyor and its related appurtenances.

As an Installation Technician, you will be responsible for following directions in order to accomplish all tasks in the requisite amount of time.

In order to qualify for this position, you will need:

  • Base knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical is a plus.

  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch.

  • Good written & oral communication skills.

  • Ability to travel on a frequent basis from customer’s job site to job site. ACS will fly the employee in and out of their home airport, or the employee will use an ACS-rented vehicle to drive, or ride, to the site.

  • Meets acceptable time/work standards.

  • Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly.

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Ability to interact well with customers and vendors.

  • Have the desire and self-initiative to be willing to continuously learn.

Additional Fringe-benefits and Non-wage Compensation Benefits: 

  • Travel required is about 28 days out (flexible), and 7-10 days at home after for a break.

  • Once you are at home for a break, you do not need to report to work and will be the employee’s time off until the next trip out.

  • Paid travel across the United States – ACS will pay 100% of all expenses for travel, and the employee will be paid while traveling. Per Diem will be given daily to each employee who travels with ACS. The employee does not need to provide their own transportation.

  • Each Employee will get to sign up and keep all Reward points with Hotels, Frequent Flier Miles, and Rental car points.

  • Out-of-the-country travel is an option, but not mandatory and is on a volunteer basis. ACS will pay for the cost of the employee’s passport if interested.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Installation, start-up, and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical material handling equipment and machines.

  • Ability to run conduit and make wire pulls.

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and programming problems.

  • Possess a good mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools.

  • Familiarity with types of equipment produced by ACS (I.E. centering device and chain transfer.)

  • Operate fork truck and overhead crane or hoist. (ACS will train)

  • Prepares and maintains paperwork as required including time sheets and expense reports. (ACS will train)

  • Works in accordance with established safety rules and regulations.

  • Prior conveyor installation experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity with control logic and panel views is a plus.

This job will require overnight travel to client sites (primarily in the US, but can occasionally travel worldwide). Candidates should expect to spend anywhere from, but not limited to, two weeks to six weeks of continuous travel. Travel expenses are 100% company paid and a generous per diem is provided. Employees keep their hotel, rental car and airline points.
